Football & Beer!

Exclusive release of two great beers available now to pre-order! Little Msters Brewery have teamed up with the Sheffield Home of Football Charity.

The goal is to create a world-class visitor attraction to promote Sheffield’s footballing heritage throughout the world and the wider Sheffield and Hallamshire region. The plans include a centrally located museum with physical and digital material, trophies, memorabilia photos, objects, memories and stories from people connected to football. There will also temporary exhibitions from places such as the National Football Museum in Manchester.

As an educational charity, there will be school and community projects which highlight other aspects of our history, such as the legacy and growth of women’s football and we will link in to the national history curriculum with resources for teachers. The project will also ethically invest in statues, literature, film and drama and it will incorporate a lion-themed trail around the city centre. There is already a free historical walking app available to download that takes you on a heritage tour around ten historic footballing hot spots that helped shape football in the Victorian era.

A team of new and former trustees have come together to reinvigorate this visionary project started by football writer and historian, Martin Westby, who passed away in 2020 aged 63. Bringing together a variety of skills from careers in heritage, literature, media, education and sport, some of the trustees include former Mayor of Sheffield Councillor Denise Fox as chair, former radio broadcaster and journalist, Andy Kershaw, historian and company secretary John Clarke, Sheffield university lecturer Dr John Wilson, and former head of Sheffield Library Services, Nick Partridge. Local author John Stocks has also joined the team. The Sheffield Home of Football IPA and Lager will be an invaluable tool in promoting our organisation to the world.

You can pre-order the beers now on our web-site following this link. Collections will be available this weekend from Mitchells Wines in Sheffield and then any postal orders sent out from Monday 17th July.
