Thanks to everyone who came along to the unveiling of our third blue plaque at the Sheffield Crucible Theatre today in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Cllr Jayne Dunn, accompanied by Stephen Burke the Master Cutler Charles Turner, Richard Tims, chairman of Sheffield FC, Olivia Blake MP, Abtisam Mohamed MP, Clive Betts MP, Keith Hackett and of course our new Patron the Rt. Hon. Richard Caborn former Minister of Sport.
Thanks to our trustees, volunteers and friends from Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, Hallam FC and Tom Bird the Chief Executive of Sheffield Theatres and his team for making us so welcome in the Adelphi Room at our book launch which went so well. We also had a great piece of new poetry from John and Chelsey from the ‘Stand Up & Be Counted Theatre Company’ and an amazing football cake, cut by our Lord Mayor. Keith Hackett gave the red card to Barbara Walker in return for a copy of our new book “A Children’s Illustrated History of Football in Sheffield”, available here.
